The
medical field is an important one. Some are drawn to the medical profession for
the prestige or the salary. Some students study medicine because they feel
pressured into it by family. But there are some people, like Jerome Abrams, who
studied medicine out of sincere desire to improve the lives of others and make
a real difference.
JeromeAbrams began his career as a private practice family physician more than thirty
years ago. Prior to private practice, he was an emergency physician. When he
entered private practice, he knew he wanted to do more than read patients’
medical history and prescribe medication. He wanted to know what made each
patient unique and find ways to improve their health and help them maintain it
themselves.
To
sincerely care for patients took a level of dedication other doctors could only
dream to possess. Jerome Abrams’ experience and knowledge helped him understand
what patients say, and often, what they don’t say. He learns what makes his
patients unique. He learns how they relate to family, community, relationships,
and where they are in life. By understanding his patients and their families,
he can encourage them to take greater steps to care for themselves and become a
valuable resource for patients when health problems arise.
His
sincere compassion for people is noticed by patients and colleagues. In 2014,
Jerome Abrams was voted Kent
County’s 2nd
best physician. Jerome Abrams was honored and humbled to be named one of the
county’s best physicians and, it encourages him to continue his work caring for
patients and helping them achieve their health goals.
